1st Grade Summer Reading

Dear Parents,
 
Fostering a love of reading has many rewards!  As your children assemble next year as the 1^st grade class of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School, we will join in the common purpose of growing in knowledge and faith through the love of books!  So, throughout the summer, let us be connected through books in the magnificent world of reading. 
 
As rising 1^st graders, there will be two parts to summer reading:

• The first part of the first grade summer reading requirement will require the students to read ten books from the lists provided. The rising 1^st grade reading list is posted below.  Please record the books read on the attached reading log sheet.  Books may be read to the child, with the child, or independently by the child. 
• The second part of the first grade summer reading requirement will require students to pick one book from their reading log and complete a reading follow-up assignment.  Also below is the follow-up assignment that needs to be completed on the chosen book.
•  The reading log and the follow-up assignment will be due the first full week of school. 

We hope this requirement will encourage your child to continue reading over the summer.  We look forward to seeing you and your child in the fall!
