Golf Tournament Swinging With Opportunity
for Catholic Education

THE WOODLANDS – St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School’s 9^th annual Golf Tournament and Dinner/Dance, “Disco and Diamonds” will be held on October 23rd. The tournament will be hosted on the beautiful grounds of the Woodforest Country Club located off of Honea Egypt Road at 6201 Mulligan Drive in Montgomery, Texas. There will be a shotgun start at 9:00 am. The festivities will continue into the evening at La Tranquila Ranch located at 9418 FM 2920, in Tomball, Texas, between I-45N and HWY 249. Dinner will be served at 7 PM. Included in the entertainment is the drawing for a diamond raffle donated by Shaftell Diamond Co.

“This is the PTO’s and Booster Club’s only fundraising activity for the year for the PreK3 through 8^th grade school. All proceeds will go to benefit the fine arts, athletic and extracurricular activities within the school.” – says Elsa Piekielniak. Piekielniak and Dave Burns are this year’s event co-chairs.

Like all private schools, St. Anthony’s does not receive funding from the state and must raise money to bring the tuition rate to an affordable possibility for the families. As it is now, tuition only covers a portion of the costs of running the school. Renee’ B. Nunez, Principal for the school states that, “The operating budget is augmented through the Annual Fall Golf Tournament and the Spring Auction Gala. The Tournament’s proceeds go directly to student activities whereas the Gala brings in funding to help bridge the gap between the actual cost to educate the child and the tuition charged.”

The night at La Tranquila Ranch will feature dining, complements of Lupe Tortilla, and entertainment provided by ‘Little Queen’, a popular disco band. “Everybody has a great time at these events,” states Piekielniak. “They typically dress for the occasion. I expect to see a lot of fun disco ensembles and big hair. It is always fun for those of us who like to ‘come as we are’ to sit back and enjoy the impromptu fashion show. The food is being donated by Lupe Totilla which we are so thankful for and a special thank you goes to Keith Shaftel of Shaftel Diamond Co. for donating an incredible item for our jewelry raffle."

A single player registration is $250.00 which includes dinner. To attend the dinner, alone, it is $75.00 per person. There are many other opportunities to sponsor the event that range from $75.00 for a clergy dinner sponsor to the Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels at $1500, $2500, and $5000, respectively.
