SAOPCS Kindergarteners celebrate reading with a Character Book Parade
by Becki Kinch
Mrs. Abby Smith, Kindergarten teacher at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School, leads her class through the school halls during their annual Kindergarten Character Book Parade. The event celebrated the progress the students have made with reading. Other grade levels of the school from PreK3 through 8
th, lined the halls to wave, clap, and cheer the students on. Following the parade, the students returned to their classrooms to continue their literacy celebrations. Smith, along with Kindergarten Assistant, Prudence Osman, coordinated the event with St. Anthony’s other Kindergarten teacher, Stacey McMullen, and Assistant Linda Dueitt. “Students each brought their own reading pillow and were able to relax in groups with friends to share and read their books. We are excited about this fun day of celebrating our love of Reading!” said Smith. For more information about St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School, please visit
