“St. Anthony of Padua provides a learner-centered curriculum that recognizes individual learning styles, maintains high academic standards and nurtures the development of a life-long love of learning. Educators will be challenged to utilize a variety of methods, promote higher level thinking skills and engage students actively in learning. They will continually evaluate and update instruction utilizing current educational research and technology.” Passage from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School’s Philosophy
Our challenge as educators is to bring the words written as part of the school’s philosophy to life in our classrooms. We can meet the challenge and develop a strong instructional program if we build the three C’s: caring culture, collegiality and community.
Curriculum guides written and published by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, addendums written specifically for St. Anthony of Padua, and TEA Essential Knowledge & Skills (TEKS) are used to plan instructional activities. Objectives in these documents give direction in choosing textbooks and resources to assure the mastery of skills. CURRICULUM GUIDES & ADDENDUMS give direction to our program. TEXTBOOKS are used as a RESOURCE. .
