Dear Parents of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School,
Happy First Day of Distance Learning! If you are like me, you received a LOT of e-mails, papers, instructions, assignments and may be feeling a little overwhelmed --- or a lot overwhelmed. Please try not to feel overwhelmed. We are taking this one day at a time. The most important assignments are core academic subjects: ELA, Math, Religion, Science and Social Studies. For our younger grades, not all of these blocks will be filled every day. It happens at school too. Teachers have to make adjustments and catch up later. We fully expect that to happen. Each Auxiliary teacher has sent one assignment per week for students to complete. This is meant to be fun and engaging and a way to give students something different to do. We are asking that your student do their best to complete these. However, if you reach the end of the week and the auxiliary assignments could not be done, please let the teacher know and it will be okay. These could also be something saved for the weekend.
For the older grades that have an academic grade linked to Accelerated Reader, we will be eliminating the grade attached to completion of AR. We LOVE for our students to read and they will be able to take tests when they return. We are just trying to alleviate some stress for our students --- and parents.
Some teachers may be asking for items scanned to them. If you do not have a scanner, the following apps have been recommended for scanning: CamScanner and ScannerPro.
Finally, after my meeting with the Superintendent this evening, we were reminded again that attendance is necessary for credit for the days and for promotion to the next grade level. Grades will be taken on the assignments that are given. The completed academic plans are what will be submitted to the archdiocese and TCCBED for attendance purposes. Please remind your students that these assignments are NOT optional. We want all students to successfully complete this year and be prepared for the next year. Thank you for your help with this. The distance learning plans will be posted on our website each week.
Please continue to pray and take care of yourselves.
Only by His Grace,
Veronica Tucker
