Dear Parents of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School,
As we look towards the mid-point of week 3 of our distance learning, I feel the need to share with you some things I have noticed.
Firstly, you, our parents, are doing an amazing job taking on this deeper partnership with us in educating your children. We are not satisfied with merely reviewing and putting new learning aside for however long this closure may be. We know the amazing abilities of our students and want to see them continue to grow. I have seen some of the work turned in last week and I’m impressed by our students and their efforts. The bar was set high and you’ve met it. Thank you!
Secondly, my prayer is that we are beginning to establish some routines. Now that teachers have had the opportunity to review what works best for their students, and are integrating videos as well as GoToMeeting classes and help sessions, my prayer is that a routine is set when this closure is extended. I am waiting for an announcement from the Archdiocese regarding our extension. As soon as I have that, I will share with you.
Thirdly, our teachers are feeling pressure as they strive to continue to give our students their very best. We know when working remotely, it is challenging to separate work hours from personal time. Recognizing the importance of “not being on the clock” all day, I have asked the teachers to take care of themselves and their own families in addition to their students. I have reminded them that my expectation is that they respond to parents within one day of receiving messages. Please give them this time to return your messages.
In my almost 20 years in education, I have never seen a faculty more dedicated to their students than this one. The lengths they will go to is unparalleled. Please say a prayer for our teachers. Know that you are in my prayers every day.
Only by His Grace,
Veronica Tucker
