Middle School students from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School hold a “check” representing $494.00 that was collected by the school’s students on behalf of the Abandoned Animal Shelter in Tomball. Each month all students and staff from the school participate in a service project benefiting a local charity. The students bring in $1 for the treat of trading in their school uniform for a pair of comfortable jeans for the day. Asked why he chose the Abandoned Animal shelter, Mark Engelmeyer, school religion coordinator, said, “Being stewards of the earth, we believe it is important to take care of all of God’s creation. We appreciate the work of the shelter’s volunteers. If they can use the money to benefit at least one animal in their care, we will have done well.”
