This year, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School partnered with CrossCatholic in the Box of Joy outreach program. School families donated toys for children living in poverty conditions in Haiti and Guatemala. Mark Engelmeyer, Religion Coordinator for the school was delighted with the success of the service project, “We were only planning to pack 60 boxes, but we packed three times more than what we were planning for.” Students packed 207 gift boxes that will be shipped to children who would otherwise receive nothing for Christmas. Funds to cover the shipping costs were raised through a school-wide T-shirt & Jeans day fundraiser earlier this month. “I was amazed by the generosity of our school families for the Box of Joy project. There will be 207 children in Haiti and Guatemala who will now be receiving Christmas presents because of our cooperation with God’s Will and Grace,” stated Engelmeyer. St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School joined hundreds of other parishes and schools in this important work of mercy. For more information, visit [email protected].
